Review of American Health Information Management Association

Healthcare departments and health insurance companies often have a hard time managing, storing and maintaining client’s health records by the conventional or paper-based and/or electronic-based methods. It gets worse in the long-term as the health records increase and pile-up on the healthcare expert’s desk or storing cabinets.

With this problem in mind, the American Health Information Management Association strives to provide healthcare experts and facilities a hand in managing their health records in order to continuously provide effective health care to society. American Health Information Management Association or AHIMA, was established in 1928 and was considered as the Assoc. of Record Librarians of North America with the main goal of enhancing the quality and efficiency of medical records. AHIMA has worked hard to provide electronic based health records as a replacement to the hassling and time-consuming paper or physical documents. With an electronic based health record management system, medical experts and healthcare facilities will be able to transfer patient records and data more efficiently and in the least amount of time possible. Their attempt to standardize this system has led to better results in the industry of health data mgmt. as of the present day.
